Are You the Planet or the Sun?

This is the most confusing part of the whole feature, so let's clear it up.

Everyone has their own solar system. In YOUR solar system, YOU are the sun and your friends are the planets. In YOUR FRIEND's solar system, THEY are the sun and YOU are one of their planets.

When you open a friend's profile and tap the gold ring, you are looking at THEIR solar system — so you will see them in the center as the sun, and yourself as a planet (Mercury, Venus, and so on). That planet is your rank in THEIR best friends list, not theirs in yours.

This calculator estimates exactly that: your planet position in your friend's solar system, based on your interaction with them.

So if the calculator says Venus, it means you are your friend's number 2 — not that they are yours.

How to Use the Calculator

Fill in these four boxes and hit calculate.

1. Your Snap Score. Open your profile in Snapchat. The number under your name is your score.

2. Your Friend's Snap Score. Open their profile the same way and note their number.

3. Sent to Friend. This is a rough count of snaps you have sent this person lately.

Only you can see your own solar system. Your friends see their own, based on their activity.

Why This Is an Estimate, Not Exact

Here is the honest part. Snapchat has never published the formula behind planet order. Nobody outside Snap Inc. knows the exact math.

What we do know is that Snapchat looks at how often you interact with someone: snaps sent, snaps received, chats, and how recent that activity is. Snap Score alone does not decide your planet. Two people can have similar scores and sit on very different planets, because what matters most is interaction between the two of you, not total score.

So treat the result as a helpful guess, not a fact. If the calculator says you are on Mars but you expected Venus, the real answer is simply that your recent interaction pattern points there.

Both directions matter. Sending many snaps but getting few back usually means a lower planet than a balanced exchange.

The list updates on its own. Snapchat refreshes best friend order regularly, so your planet can move without you doing anything.

Only Snapchat+ shows planets. If you cancel Snapchat+, the solar system view goes away.
